The treatment works by creating controlled microdamage combined with heat that provokes a wound-healing response. Due to aging and environmental damage (particularly sun damage), the structural proteins of skin deplete and get replaced at a slower rate. RF microneedling kick-starts the biological processes that create new collagen and elastin. Following a series of treatments—usually three or four—you will see a smoother, firmer, brighter complexion.
- RF Microneedling best suits people with some degree of skin laxity, stubborn acne scarring, and sun damage—specifically solar elastosis, a condition marked by crinkling because of depleted skin elasticity.
- It is suitable for all skin types and tones. It is safer than skin resurfacing treatments that remove the outer layers of the epidermis, since it targets the skin’s deeper layers, avoiding surface damage.
RF Microneedling produces more dramatic results than traditional microneedling or radiofrequency treatments alone, as combining the two technologies boosts their effectiveness.
Microneedles allow precise delivery of radiofrequency energy into the dermis, where collagen-producing cells reside, and the radiofrequency energy increases the level of controlled damage the microneedles inflict.
A single RF Microneedling treatment at RejuvLV typically lasts 90-120 minutes “It typica, depending on the area treated and it usually takes three or four treatments to see optimal results.
At each treatment session, the treatment area will first be cleansed, and topical numbing cream will be applied for approximately 30 minutes. In addition to topical numbing cream, we offer ProNox (laughing gas) in our clinic to help mitigate pain and anxiety. Once you are sufficiently numb, your skin will once again be cleansed and disinfected with disinfecting solution. Once sufficiently cleansed we will begin with pressing the handheld device of the Pixel8 into your skin, stamping it across the entire treatment area.
When the microneedles puncture your skin, they emit the RF energy as heat, delivering it directly into the dermis. You may feel a warm, prickling sensation, but the treatment should not be too painful because of the combination of the numbing cream and the ProNox.
After the treatment is complete, we apply your own platelet rich plasma (PRP) as absorption is maximized due to the thousands micro-channels in your skin. Once the PRP is applied we then apply a moisturizing cream to help soothe your skin and maintain hydration.
Immediately after your treatment, you might have a little pinpoint bleeding, flushing, and slight swelling—all part of the expected inflammatory response to the micro injuries inflicted on your skin. These side effects should resolve in 24–48 hours.
You will be sent you with a hydrating cream for continued application for the next 72 hours. You are encouraged to not wash your face for 24 hours, if possible, to maximize the amount of the PRP is physically on your skin. As you recover, you can encourage healthy healing with gentle skin care.
You may notice your complexion looking brighter and smoother within the first two weeks of treatment. However, it will be two to four months before you experience the below-the-surface structural benefits; it takes time for the body to produce the new collagen and elastin that tightens up skin.
Your results will continue to improve with each treatment, reaching maximum improvement a few months after your final treatment sessions.
